Monsoon season in Moab is here, and it came on fast and seemingly out of nowhere. Friday was beautiful all day until I was sitting at dinner with my client and all of a sudden it started raining 30 feet away but not near the patio of the restaurant. Bizarre, but not uncommon. We set out after dinner in hopes the storm would pass quickly as monsoons usually do.
We finally arrived at Deadhorse and Caroline, her dad and mom were blown away by the views, comparing it to the Grand Canyon but better!
There was a small gap above the horizon and below the dense clouds and I hoped that it would stay that way so the sky could just drop in and light up the canyon, but it was a long shot.
I was helping Caroline when all of a sudden her face began to glow, so I looked to my right and was blown away, then her dad mentioned the rainbow behind us!
I stood there briefly in awe as we scurried around to find a nice composition and as I was firing away a lightning bolt struck but I never saw it! It wasn't until Sunday night whilst organizing files that I came across the file and was even more excited than I previously was to process and share this image!
This image encompasses some of the most amazing conditions and light I've ever seen!
